Are you looking for a local exercise class? Circuit training is a fantastic workout for anyone regardless of their level of fitness. I spoke to our Sports Centre team member Sarah Gyles to find out more.
What is Circuit Training?
Circuit Training consists of a set of stations each station is a different exercise, it could be resistance, it could be body weight or plyometrics. You have a set amount of time to do the exercises in. You get a little rest period and then you move on to the next station. A circuit is a series of these stations.
What are the Benefits of Circuit Training?
Circuit training is good for all-over body fitness, you’ll get stronger, it’s good for cardiovascular fitness, and it’s also good for your mental health. It’s also perfect if, like many, you have little time extra in the week to exercise. It’s a perfect start to building fitness, getting you familiar with many different exercises.
What exercises are involved?
Well, we have about 100 exercises to choose from. We try to break it up into different types. For example, you will not work your lower body on two consecutive stations. You might have a lower body resistance exercise like a lunge; then the next station might be an upper body with weights and then on to a cardio exercise. So, whilst one body part is working the other is resting.
What do I need to take part?
A water bottle and a sense of humour, you just need to come along and give it a go!
