Joseph Main, our Chief Executive, was invited this week to Number 10 Downing Street in order to attend a special reception for Local Charity Champions. Nominated by Alex Chalk, MP for Cheltenham, Joseph attended the event hosted by Rt. Hon. Stuart Andrew MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
The event is a chance to celebrate the wonderful work being carried out by charities and to thank those involved in making it happen.
Alex Chalk said:
“I was delighted to invite Joseph Main to a special reception for Local Charity Champions at 10 Downing Street to receive the personal thanks and recognition of the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport for his work for Cheltenham YMCA.
Under Joseph’s leadership, Cheltenham YMCA make an extraordinary contribution to our shared mission of ending homelessness for good – It is difficult to overstate just how important YMCA is in this mission. Cheltenham YMCA’s supported housing in Vittoria Walk, helps to transform the lives of local residents. We owe Joseph and all of the staff and volunteers at Cheltenham YMCA a debt of gratitude.”
As an organisation we pride ourselves on making a difference within the communities we serve. Alex Chalk MP attended our AGM back in September to hear about our latest achievements, and most recently our 2023 Sleep Easy event in March, which raised over £8000.
Joseph said:
“I am honoured to attend this event on behalf of YMCA Cheltenham, and am delighted that the hard and unending work of all our staff and volunteers has been recognised in this way. YMCA Cheltenham seeks to serve those most vulnerable in society, and while we don’t do this for recognition or reward, it is wonderful to know that people such as Alex Chalk MP can see and value the difference being made through our work.”
