Listening Post: Counselling & Training

Gloucestershire Listening Post

We are pleased to share information about an invaluable resource available to you: Listening Post. This Gloucestershire-based charity offers professional counselling support to all.

Counselling at Listening Post involves weekly face-to-face sessions that last fifty minutes. Each client is assigned a personal counsellor, and sessions are offered on a donation basis. This means you pay what you can afford. Counselling can be provided for up to nine months, with extensions possible in exceptional circumstances.

Warwickshire Place Community Kitchen
Hot, home-cooked, delicious food served on an eat-in or take-away basis. The best part? You can pay what you can afford—or eat for free!

In partnership with Feed Cheltenham.

  • When: The first Saturday of every month, 5–7 pm
  • Where: Quaker Meeting House, Warwick Place, Cheltenham, GL52 2NP

Community Kitchen Glos
Community Kitchen Glos is a group of volunteers who help fight food poverty in Gloucester. They cook and serve a free three-course meal every Monday evening. It’s a good place for anyone who needs a meal and some company.

  • When: Every Monday at 6:30 pm
  • Where: St John’s Church Hall, Gloucester, GL1 2AT

Gloucester Feed the Hungry
Gloucester Feed the Hungry offers a warm space and hot meals. Located at Smiles Café, just off King’s Square, they’re open Tuesday to Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Additionally, they provide free haircuts, clothing, and emergency food parcels.

Key Services:

  • Hot Meals: Available during opening hours, with every £1 donation feeding two individuals.
  • AGE UK Drop-In Centre: Every Monday from 1 pm to 3 pm.
  • Evening Hot Food Programme: Tuesday to Friday, 6:15 pm to 7 pm.
  • Location: 24 The Oxebode, Gloucester, GL1 1SA

Cheltenham Open Door
Cheltenham Open Door is dedicated to supporting those in need with daily necessities and a warm, welcoming space. Whether you’re looking for food, clothing, or basic supplies, they are here to help.

Guest Hub Services:

  • Location: Unit 3, St George’s Business Park, Alstone Lane, Cheltenham, GL51 8HF.
  • Open: Monday–Thursday, 10 am–3 pm (closes at 1 pm on the first Wednesday of every month).
  • What’s Available: Enjoy help-yourself breakfast, hot two-course lunch, access to showers, laundry facilities, and a clothing store.

Learners can enrol on a course and start learning within a day or two. While the course content is on a self-study basis—great for fitting in around work, homeworking, and family life—all learners have access to support from our dedicated online support team.

The Level 2 qualifications are equivalent to GCSE grades A*–C or 4–9, making them a great addition to your CV. Plus, each course can be completed in 15 weeks or less, with plenty of progression options and related courses available at Gloucestershire College (GC) for those who decide to continue their studies.

As a resident of YMCA Cheltenham, you have access to our well-equipped sports centre, a fantastic place for both fun and fitness in Cheltenham.

Whether you’re aiming to boost your physical health or seeking to connect with others, our facilities cater to all your needs.

Individual Gym Access:

  • Monday to Friday: 11:00 AM until close
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Group Football Sessions:

  • Tuesday and Thursday
