Celebrating a Year of Positive Change and Gratitude at YMCA Cheltenham: Survey Highlights and Support Worker Appreciation

As we look back upon the last year here at YMCA Cheltenham it is with great pride and gratitude we reflect on our amazing staff teams across the organisation, as they embody YMCA Cheltenham’s values such as integrity, honesty, openness, empathy kindness, generosity and grace, as they consistently change peoples lives through the inspiring work they do each day.

Nowhere is this compassion more evident than through the dedication of our fantastic Housing Support Workers and this has been demonstrated by overwhelmingly positive results of a recent YMCA resident’s survey.

An overwhelming 95% of residents said they feel respected by their support worker. This mutual respect is key to creating an environment where strong, trusting relationships can flourish and residents can truly thrive.

Home is far more than just a roof over your head, and an impressive 84% feel we provide a genuinely friendly, welcoming atmosphere. YMCA Cheltenham strives to be a real home – a place of warmth, security and belonging for all.

The goal of the YMCA is not just to provide accommodation, but to empower residents to build a brighter future by realising their independence, with 93% of residents feeling confident about their future housing thanks to the comprehensive and continuous support they receive. Our Housing Support Workers aim is to equip every individual with the tools necessary for independence, highlighted by 88% of residents who feel prepared to build their own futures.

Health and wellbeing is a core value of the YMCA reflecting it’s foundations in body, mind and spirit, and is vital for our residents to reach their potential. While 71% appreciate the opportunities to stay active and healthy here, we’re always looking at how we can enhance these offerings further so every individual can have the opportunity to improve their wellbeing.

Over 80% of our residents said they feel their living environment here is secure. Security is more than just a physical measure but a sense of being able to live without worry or fear – YMCA becoming more than a refuge but a home for those who have had to flee violence or unsafe circumstances.

The results of the survey are more than just data and statistics. They reflect the passion and values of our team – the result creating an environment where our residents feel they can belong and thrive. Where they can become part of the YMCA family.

We our proud to have such a talented and compassionate staff team supporting our residents and we thank them all for their dedication commitment.

We really are driven by the good we do.
