Last Sunday we hosted our first ever danceathon in honour of YMCA Cheltenham turning 170 years. We were thrilled to welcome YMCA Cheltenham colleagues, friends and supporters from the local community who grooved non-stop for an incredible 170 minutes to raise vital funds for our services.
The challenge, guided by professional dance teacher Kiaya Leach, encouraged participants to dress up in their best disco outfit and dance from 1pm -3.50pm.
“I couldn’t be prouder of what we have achieved. “Dancing for 170 minutes was no small feat, but everyone brought their energy and joy to the floor. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the YMCA’s impact over the years.” – Faye Dewhurst, Development and Communications Manager.
For 170 years, the YMCA has been a cornerstone of support in Gloucestershire, offering a variety of services to individuals and families. This danceathon was a special way to honour that legacy, uniting people through dance.
Each participant also received a free t-shirt and certificate for taking part. The success of the danceathon not only marked a significant milestone but also highlighted the strong community bonds that the YMCA continues to build.
A special thanks to Kiaya Leach for giving up her free time to ensure the event was a huge success.
