Potter’s Place opened in December 2019 and is YMCA Cheltenham’s 48-bed emergency housing project located in the centre of Gloucester; 41 rooms are available for single people, the remaining 7 rooms for pregnant women and families.
The staff team work hard to find positive move-on options most appropriate for residents within the service. Working together with our growing list of partners, we ensure our residents can move forward to positive circumstances where they would otherwise be homeless.
The environment here is often fast paced as there can be a quick turn around of residents moving in and out of the building.
Residents come to us with a wide range of support needs, some of which can be very complex. The team work very hard to engage meaningfully with residents in order to build up good working relationships and encourage good outcomes.

Enjoying staying here, staff are friendly and supportive, so are the residents. There is a sense of community here. Staff are encouraging us to do a variety of activities, football, quizzes and gardening. – Resident, Potter’s Place
Referrals for accommodation come directly from Gloucester City Council. Our team assesses individuals to ensure that we can provide the best possible support and care moving forward.
If you know someone who is sleeping rough or have any concerns, please use the Streetlink website to inform us. This will help connect them with accommodation and support services.
