Would you like to work for a growing local charity?

Do you want to improve the lives of others?

Then join the Cheltenham YMCA staff team as a Bank Staff Worker – It’s exciting and stimulating and has many rewards.

We are looking for Bank Staff Workers with a sense of purpose to help improve the lives of others and who will help to keep driving the organisation forward. As an organisation, we strive to be an excellent employer of choice and value all our staff and recognise their commitment to our objectives.

In return, you will receive training and professional development opportunities, a generous pension, life assurance and be part of the YMCA Cheltenham family – including free gym membership and being invited to our fun and annual events just for you.

Salary £10.57 per hour.

ABOUT YOU

We are inviting applications for Bank Staff Workers to join us, to work in a fast-paced environment, and be part of either our Supported Housing Team at Vittoria Walk, Cheltenham or our Pathway HOME team in Gloucester.

If you can work with tact and diplomacy, apply judgement and common sense, and react sensitively and with emotional intelligence when dealing with the complex or sensitive circumstances of vulnerable people, then this is the perfect role for you.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working as a Housing Support Worker or in a similar role and have a Level 3 in a relevant qualification (or a desire to achieve this).

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Bank Staff Worker’s role is to work as part of a committed and capable team to provide housing-related support to those who need our help, supporting them to achieve their aspirations for future housing and independent living.  The Bank Staff Worker also helps to maintain a safe and supportive living environment for vulnerable people and to help manage any additional support needs of residents through various engagement methods.

ABOUT OUR OFFER

We offer a salary for this position of £10.57 per hour.  You may be asked to work hours on an ad hoc basis that may involve working evenings, days and weekends. We provide a contributory pension (subject to eligibility), non-contractual benefits such as life assurance, and free use of the organisation’s sports and gym facilities. You will be entitled to 28 days holiday, pro-rated depending on the hours you work.  We provide a comprehensive training programme for all staff across the organisation and are committed to helping all staff progress and develop their career.

We are committed to creating a dynamic and diverse workforce and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of their age, gender, disability, race or ethnicity, sexual orientation or faith.  We have procedures in place to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process.

ABOUT US

YMCA Cheltenham, founded in 1855, is a registered charity and has become a leading provider of supported housing in Cheltenham and Gloucester, alongside other works including the provision of sports facilities, affordable housing and other charitable activities.

Since 2014 we have grown from having just one supported housing project of 50 beds to being able to offer more than 250 beds every night, including long-term affordable accommodation, low to high-level supported accommodation, and emergency homeless provision.

YMCA Cheltenham is an organisation founded on Christian values and, as such, employees may encounter aspects of the workplace particular to, or representative of, the Christian faith.  Employees are not required to adhere to the Christian faith or any faith, and no such consideration is taken into account by the organisation when making employment choices or in delivering its services.

YMCA Cheltenham is wholly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
