MAKE A DIFFERENCE – WORK FOR US AND DO GOOD

Are you looking for your next exciting challenge?

Do you want to make a real difference?

Do you want to work in an organisation that really cares about you and what you do?

Then join us here at Cheltenham YMCA.

We are looking to recruit Bank Staff Workers with a sense of purpose to help improve the lives of others and who will help us maintain the highest levels of support we can provide to those who need us most. In return, you will receive training and professional development opportunities, a generous pension, life assurance and be part of the YMCA Cheltenham family – including free gym membership and being invited to our fun and annual events just for you. Salary is £11.10 per hour (increasing from 1st April 2024, in line with national minimum wage and national living wage increases)   ABOUT YOU We are inviting applications for Bank Staff Workers to join us, to work in a fast-paced environment, and be part of either the PATHWAY HOME team in Cheltenham or the PATHWAY HOME team in Gloucester. If you can work with tact and diplomacy, apply judgement and common sense, and react sensitively and with emotional intelligence when dealing with the complex or sensitive circumstances of vulnerable people, then this is the perfect role for you. Ideally, you will have had previous experience of paid or volunteer work in a similar role and have a Level 3 in a relevant qualification (or a desire to work with us to achieve this).   ABOUT US YMCA Cheltenham, founded in 1855, is a registered charity and has become a leading provider of supported housing for the most vulnerable in Cheltenham and Gloucester, alongside other works sports facilities, affordable housing and other charitable activities.

Organisational Values

YMCA Cheltenham is an organisation founded on Christian values and, as such, employees may encounter behaviours, artefacts, or other elements particular to or representative of the Christian faith in their workplace. As an organisation founded on the Christian Faith, YMCA Cheltenham draws its Values from the Bible, principally as described in Micah 6:8. Our Values are therefore expressed as follows:     YMCA Cheltenham will operate with Equity, Integrity, Openness and Honesty. YMCA Cheltenham will engage with Empathy, Kindness, Generosity and Grace. YMCA Cheltenham will be Thoughtful, Discrete, Ethical and Respectful to all.   Employees are not required to adhere to the Christian faith, nor any faith, and no such consideration is made by the organisation in employment choices nor in delivering its services – however, we do expect all employees to demonstrate the list of Values shown while in the workplace.   ABOUT THE ROLE The Bank Staff Worker’s role is to work as part of a committed and capable team to provide housing related support to those who need our help, supporting them to achieve their aspirations for future housing and independent living.  The Bank Staff Worker also helps to maintain a safe and supportive living environment for vulnerable people and to help manage any additional support needs of residents through various engagement methods.   ABOUT WHAT WE OFFER The organisation recognise that employees need down time, or time off, so time will be given off after working shifts to ensure that you can achieve a great work-life balance. We provide a generous contributory pension and great holiday entitlement. We provide a comprehensive training programme for all staff across the organisation and have a commitment to helping staff progress and develop. We are committed to creating a dynamic and diverse workforce and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of their age, gender, disability, race or ethnicity, sexual orientation or faith. We have procedures in place to ensure that all applicants are treated fairly and consistently at every stage of the recruitment process.

YMCA Cheltenham is wholly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all our staff and volunteers to share this commitment
